Commander of the immune system by Nathalie Cools & Jos Verstreepen

This image visualises the role of dendritic cells as commander of the immune system. Soldier T cells, instructed by dendritic cells that identified the cancer cell as hostile, are armed and equipped to fight cancer.

Nathalie is very passionate about immunology and is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow in the Cellular Immunology research group of the University of Antwerp in Belgium. Jos is a Belgian cartoonist and artist and Nathalie's uncle. Together, they designed this drawing as an illustration for Nathalie's doctoral dissertation.
