AWARDS, GRANTS and Prizes

WHAT DOES THE BSI OFFER MEMBERS?

The BSI supports the work of BSI members and Immunologists generally by offering a range of support in the form of grants, awards and prizes. These provide financial support, enabling individuals to further their careers, research interests, and knowledge, as well as affording them recognition amongst their peers for their contributions to Immunology.

The major schemes supported by the BSI are listed below. Please follow the links to find-out more.

WHAT ARE BSI TRAVEL AWARDS?

As part of the BSI's role as a charitable organisation, the BSI will support the travel costs for members who wish to attend:
  • Domestic / International Meetings
  • Domestic / International Congresses
  • Domestic / International Laboratory Visits for specific short-term activities, such as collaborative resrarch in order to learn new techniques. 

WHAT ARE THE MAXIMUM AWARDS DURING EACH ROUND?

Travel Awards largely depend on passing a specific set of assessment criteria, as well as where in the world you're travelling to. Here are the maximum awards (as of May 2016):
  • £500 for travel within the UK
  • £750 for travel within Europe
  • £1000 for travel outside of Europe

WHEN CAN I APPLY?

Applications for BSI Travel Awards are considered four times a year. The deadlines for these applications are as follows:

1 August 12:00 October, November, December
1 November 12:00 January, February, March

Please note that the outcome of applications will be sent via email to all applicants three to four weeks after the application deadline.
